Be Awake – Yoga and Meditation
What do yoga and animal rights have in common? Yoga is based on a discipline whose ultimate goal is to achieve a state of total awareness. A place most of us either lost or are unable to recognize due to selfishness, lust, greed, gluttony or indifference.
Strong muscles help to support and bring stability to our joints, especially the spine, which is a common site of strain. Yoga postures take the spine through its full range of movements in a precise, controlled way, which can be extremely beneficial in releasing postural back pain. Taking joints through their full range of movement keeps them healthy and can even help to prevent against degenerative arthritis.
From there, shift your weight to your feet and hands then lift your butt into the air. Yeah it is really that easy. If you did this right your body should look like an upside down “V,” with your butt sticking in the air. If you can, try to keep your feet flat to the floor with your legs and arms relatively straight.
A lot of yoga poses mimic animals. If we just take the time to slow down and observe we will notice there is much to be learned from animal behavior. Why animals were created is an important question where the obvious, logical answer is; for the benefit of humankind and the survival of other meat eating animals. Many western religious leaders justify the killing and eating of animals because it is allowed and sanctioned in the Judeo-Christian Bible. They claim that God created animals to be eaten and enjoyed and there is enough evidence in the scriptures to justify this opinion.
The Bible teaches compassion to working animals, but also sanctions their slaughter and sacrifice. Should we be critical of the biblical Israelites because they regularly sacrificed and slaughtered young lambs and bulls in the Temple? Historically, this was at a time when humans were sacrificed by neighboring Canaanite tribes. In the Jewish religion only certain “clean” animals can be eaten. They must be killed in a specific way then prepared to ensure no blood is eaten.
Downward facing dog is proven to help you get the type of firm booty that many “yoga hotties” enjoy. However, the best thing about this asana, as with many other positions, is it does not just exercise your butt. The downward facing dog helps tone your arms, back, hips, and legs to give you that healthy sexy look no matter what you wear.
